Two Alabama Colleges Have the "Most Luxurious Student Rec Centers" in the US UAB.edu

UAB and Auburn are both listed in a new list of the most luxurious student centers published by College Rank.

UAB's 150,000 square foot recreation center has squash, racquetball, and aquatic areas strength training, a PowerZone for serious training and a KidZone for younger visitors. In addition, UAB's new Hill Center was just opened in January 2016. The 162,000 square feet Hill Center boasts upgraded dining facilities including Full Moon Bar-B-Que, Mein Bowl, Starbucks and soon-to-be-open Panera Bread; a ballroom that can be divided into four sections; a stadium-style theater; a two-story bookstore; a technology store and a number of student service offices.

Auburn's rec center opened in 2013 is 240,000-square-feet, cost $72 million and includes the nation’s longest indoor running track, a five-story rock-climbing wall and a 45-person tiger-paw-shaped hot tub.

College Rank, a website dedicated to evaluating American colleges and universities, has released a list of the 35 most luxurious student recreation centers. This ranking was compiled after evaluating and scoring hundreds of recreation centers around the country. Categories like student outreach, health & wellness programming options, indoor and outdoor facilities were considered to determine the final ranking.
