Five Spring Valley School students participated in the Destination Imagination (DI) STATE Tournament this weekend in Huntsville.
Destination Imagination is a volunteer-led, educational non-profit organization that develops STEM (science, technology engineering and math) principles to kindergarten through university level students creative, group oriented problem solving challenges. Team members work together to develop a solution to one of 7 open-ended challenges and present their solutions at tournaments.
The Spring Valley team won FIRST place and will advance to the GLOBAL TOURNAMENT May 25-28. The global final competition will include 1,400 teams from 15 countries.
Spring Valley team members are Lucian Chapman, Austin Heard, Sam Muir, Mark Roberson, and Matthew Scott. Teacher sponsors were Mikaela Becker, Jordan Cockrell, and Dr. Adam Jones.
