City Council paves way for UBER

Today, the Birmingham City Council approved the amended TNC ordinance that allows for ridesharing in the city of Birmingham.   The vote was 7-1 in favor. Abbott abstained and Rafferty voted No.

This will allow for the potential for ridesharing companies, such as Uber, to function in the Birmingham area.

The new ordinance will specifically allow a 6 month trial period for the ridesharing concept to operate in the Birmingham area.  Other local areas, such at Mountain Brook and Homewood, have already approved ridesharing.
