UAB Travels to Georgia State for Final Nonconference Matchup

28 Oct 2019

BIRMINGHAM- Coming off a weekend of rest the Blazers will head to Atlanta to face Georgia State in the final nonconference matchup of the season Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

UAB (3-9-2) have found a bit of a groove late in the season scoring seven goals in the last four games. Teodor Thorvaldsen, Joseph Buete, Brandon Core, Aodhán O’Hara, Jake Futrell and Kevin Wallace have each recorded a goal in the last four games marking 10 different Blazers with tallies this season.

Georgia State (8-3-3) looks to return to the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row. The Panthers, who were knocked out of the first round of the 2018 tournament by Charlotte on penalty kicks, got their revenge on the 49ers this season defeating the No. 10 team in the country 1-0 on Oct. 15.

Georgia State is led by forward Aris Briggs who has nine goals in 2019. The Panthers offense averages 1.85 goals per game, good enough for top 50 in the country.

UAB won the last meeting with Georgia State 4-0 in November of last year but the Panthers lead the overall series 12-9-1.
