A Catching Fire Line Subtly Revealed The Fate Of 1 Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes Character

Some characters from The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes haven't been seen or heard from since the book, but one line from Catching Fire gives us a clue about one story.

A Catching Fire contact confirms a Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes character's fate. Many connections flow via Hunger Games. The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes set the Hunger Games decades before Katniss' arena experience and provides more about President Snow.

The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes solves some questions from the preceding films but raises more. Fans know where Coriolanus Snow goes after The Hunger Games prequel, but other characters' fates are uncertain.

After vanishing into the woods, Lucy Gray is never heard from again. Other Capitol characters disappear following The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. A Catching Fire line may tell what happened to one.

After their Victory Tour in Catching Fire, Katniss and Peeta see Plutarch Heavensbee at the Capitol. Before the film, Plutarch, the 75th Hunger Games Gamemaker, is shown to be a revolutionary. The Mockingjay survives the second installment owing to him, and he helps District 13 rebel.

Plutarch seems like another Gamemaker to Katniss when they first dance. Their chat discloses a grim job truth that can be utilized to determine Dr. Gaul's fate following The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. After discussing Seneca Crane during their dance,

Plutarch informs Katniss, "Being Head Gamemaker has never been the most secure job in the world." Plutarch is surely referring to Gamemakers' tragic endings, as Seneca was executed for his mistakes.

Based on this interaction, Dr. Gaul may die after The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Snow's ascension to power likely occurred soon after the prequel movie, based on the details.President Snow poisons threats, as the Hunger Games and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes demonstrate.

Snow and Dr. Gaul conclude the film as allies, but Gaul hinders Snow's ascension. Dr. Gaul is likely removed from Snow's path like Dean Casca Highbottom.

Plutarch's Catching Fire comment shows that Gamemakers are at high risk of death, and Snow is especially cruel to them. These clues suggest Dr. Gaul's demise, even if The Hunger Games never confirms it.
