Best Cream Cheese Crumb Cake Recipe

This is the best crumb cake with cream cheese swirl, luscious spice cake, and crumb topping. This recipe will be used all season, so save it.  


Cream Cheese Filling: – 12 ounces cream cheese softened – ⅓ cup granulated sugar – 1 large egg – 1 & ½ teaspoons vanilla extract – Spice cake mix plus ingredients on package Crumb Topping: – 1 cup salted butter softened – 2 cups all purpose flour – 1 cup granulated sugar – 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice Glaze: – ½ cup powdered sugar – 1-2 tablespoons milk


Preheat oven to 325°F. Coat a 9x13 pan with cooking spray and use parchment paper. Make the cream cheese filling first. 

Step 1

Mix room-temperature cream cheese and sugar on medium speed with a hand or standing mixer until smooth. Mix egg and vanilla until thoroughly combined. Set aside.  

Step 2

Mix the cake mix according to the box in a medium basin without overmixing. Evenly spread half the cake batter in the pan. Place scoops of cream cheese filling in pan. 

Step 3

Then add the remaining cake batter. Leave as is or swirl with a butter knife. Bake 22 minutes. Make the crumb topping while the cake bakes.  

Step 4

Mix softened butter, flour, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice until chunky with a standing or handheld mixer. Do not overmix. After baking,

spread the topping evenly over the cake, breaking up any large lumps. Avoid pressing into the jiggly cake middle.  

Step 6

Continue baking for 22–25 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely before removing it from the pan. 

Step 7

Mix everything in a small bowl to produce the glaze while cooling. Add 1 tablespoon milk, then 1/2 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency. Glaze and square before serving. Enjoy!
