Easy Chocolate Soufflé Recipe

Anybody can make this Easy Chocolate Soufflé with five pantry items. This chocolate dessert is sure to impress with its unique rise and durability.  


INGREDIENTS – 5 ounces dark or semi sweet chocolate, cut in small pieces Note: this is about 3/4 of a cup of chips) – 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, plus more for prepping ramekin – 3 large eggs, separated – 2 Tbsp granulated sugar plus more for prepping ramekin – 1 tsp vanilla extract – pinch salt – powdered sugar for dusting

Warm the oven up to 400F. Spread a lot of butter in 4 ramekins and sprinkle white sugar all over the inside.

Step 1 


Be careful not to touch or spill the simmering water as you gradually melt the chopped chocolate and butter in a medium-large basin. Do this in a pot over direct heat if you dare.    

Step 2

Smoothly combine egg yolks, extract, and salt after melting chocolate. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until frothy, then add sugar and beat until still peaks form.  

Step 3

Whisk egg whites into chocolate slowly to remove streaks. Continue whipping air into them. Start with 1/3 whites to loosen chocolate, then add the rest. Put in fridge for 15 minutes.   

Step 4

Split the batter amongst your ramekins and carefully level the top if needed. To separate mousse from ramekin sides, run an offset spatula (or finger) across the top rim of each cup. 

Step 5

This helps the soufflé stand up straight. Serve right away with powdered sugar on top.

Step 6

Pour batter into muffin cups 2/3 full. Cupcakes should rise and bounce back after 20–22 minutes. A toothpick in the center comes out dough-free. Avoid overbaking.  

Step 7

Let cupcakes sit in the pan for a few minutes, then move to a rack to finish cooling before icing. Make the frosting with my stand mixer again or electric beaters while the cupcakes bake.

Step 8

Cream the butter, cream cheese, and strawberry puree (1/2 cup) together, then add the sifted powdered sugar one cup at a time. Scrape bowl sides often. Frosting should be creamy and thick. 

Step 9

Add a little more sugar if it seems too thin. You can add some milk or lemon juice if it seems too thick. Once the cupcakes are completely cool, pipe or spread a lot of frosting on them.
