Easy Pumpkin Danish with Cream Cheese Recipe

Our Pumpkin Danish is unique. Store-bought puff pastry, cream cheese, pumpkin, and spices make the ultimate fall breakfast, snack, or dessert!  

Ingredient

For the cream cheese filling: – 8 ounces cream cheese softened, divided use – 2 tablespoons granulated sugar – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For the pumpkin filling: – 1/3 cup pure pumpkin puree – 1/4 cup light brown sugar packed – 1 & 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour – 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice For assembly: – 2 sheets puff pastry thawed – 1 large egg – splash of water – 1-2 tablespoons coarse sugar optional – 1 & 1/4 cups powdered sugar – 1-2 tablespoons milk – 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

Introduction 

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Cover two sheet trays with parchment. Put aside 6 ounces cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla mixed smoothly in a medium basin.   

Step 1

Combine pumpkin puree, brown sugar, flour, and pumpkin spice in another medium bowl; set aside. Place one puff pastry sheet on a clean surface.  

Step 2

Cut the pastry fold-wise into 3 pieces. Cut these in half for 6 rectangles. Place these on your sheet tray without touching. Use second puff pastry sheet. 

Step 3

Score each pastry's rectangle edge with a paring knife, about ¼ to ½ inch. The pastry should have fork holes in the smaller rectangle you scored. 

Step 4

It puffs sides. Avoid the edges and spoon cream cheese filling evenly onto the croissants. Avoid the edges and equally fill the pastries with pumpkin. 

Step 5

Swirl the pastry center with a butter knife or toothpick. Mix egg and water in a small bowl. Wash pastry edges with egg. Sprinkle coarse sugar on egg wash. For fluffy, golden brown sides,

bake 13-15 minutes. Cool pastries on wire racks. Mix the remaining 2 ounces of cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and pumpkin spice until creamy as the pastries cool to make the glaze.  

Step 7

The glaze should be thick but pourable. Use 1 tablespoon of milk and add more to obtain your desired consistency. Apply glaze evenly to pastries. Serve heated or cool fully.
