Ginger and pear buttermilk scones recipe

2 small pears 2 cups all purpose flour, plus more for dusting ⅓ cup granulated sugar 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder ¼ teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon kosher salt 1 stick butter, cold, cut into ¼-inch cubes ⅔ cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger 3 tablespoons brown sugar



Heat oven to 400 F. Put parchment on a baking sheet. Remove the core and peel pears. Dice into ¼-inch cubes and measure 1 cup. Set aside.

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Add the butter to the flour mixture and pinch between two fingers until all the butter is pea-sized.
