Jarrett Allen talks about his time playing for the Brooklyn Nets, and Kenny Atkinson

Right now, Jarrett Allen is an All-Star player for the Cleveland Cavaliers. But before he got to that level, he was a great Nets player.

The 6'9" centre was a fan favourite in Brooklyn, but he was important enough that the Nets got him as part of the huge deal that sent James Harden to them.

Allen has said that he loved playing in Brooklyn for Kevlin Atkinson, even though the season ended quickly. Even though the Nets were a young team playing against the best in the Eastern Conference, they had a good time.

“We had this vibe; we were just playing and having fun. Here's a footage of us shooting threes. Everyone's sideline dancing. Allen commented on JJ Redick's Old Man and the Three show, "We're having the time of our lives."

Jarrett played for Atkinson, who shaped his players in Brooklyn. Despite lacking star power, the club believed in themselves and played exciting basketball under D'Angelo Russell.

As a late first-round pick, Allen didn't expect to contribute right away, especially at 19. Atkinson trusted him to start in January 2018 and he never looked back.

“I think we all bought into Kenny and his system. Making do with what we had was easy for me. The locker room was full of people having fun and wanting to improve for the team, Jarrett added.

After Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving arrived, they wanted DeAndre Jordan. The former LA Clipper started over Jarrett, which the former Texas Longhorn handled well.

Naturally, Allen was dealt for Harden a few months later. Fortunately, Jarrett is loving his time in Cleveland, playing like an All-Star with Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Darius Garland.
