Mikal Bridges is pleased with the Brooklyn Nets' defensive performances

In a series of two consecutive victories over the Hawks, the Brooklyn Nets were led by Mikal Bridges, who scored 38 points, and Cameron Johnson, who averaged 26 points each game. Both of these players had outstanding offensive performances.

On the other hand, Mikal gives more credit to the Nets' defence than he does to the team's offence. As a result of his reputation as a top-tier defender, Mikal is aware of the significance of defending well and how it can have an impact on the offence of the Nets.

Immediately following the second victory over Atlanta, the former Villanova Wildcat provided an in-depth analysis of the significant role that the defence played in each of those victories.

"Just defend yourself. "You know, we started playing together defensively. We were low on energy at first, but we just got it back," Mikal said after the Hawks win on Saturday.

As the time ran out, we stayed strong and didn't let it get us down. We didn't give up... The defence sets the tone, and on offence, we're just getting into a flow and passing the ball around.

Kevin Ollie, interim head coach, wants “hunters” in his team. Playing superior defence is the most crucial meaning. Brooklyn must hunt the opponent's best players and challenge their scoring.

Brooklyn has troublesome defenders like Dennis Smith Jr. and Dorian Finney-Smith playing critical minutes for Coach Ollie, so they can do that. That kind of hunting helped Brooklyn beat the Hawks and win the series.

Atlanta ranks well in offence, scoring 120.4 points per game. The Hawks averaged 99.5 points against the Nets. This is a huge accomplishment for Brooklyn, which they should continue this season.

Elite athletes, the Nets excel at transition layups and three-pointers. Mikal excels in those scenarios because he can finish at the rim and score catch-and-shoot threes.

Brooklyn's future is bright if they keep playing like this. Coach Ollie recommends this play style because it suits most of the team. Since the franchise cornerstone likes it, the rest of the team may benefit from improved defence.
