Ultra Creamy Cheesy Grits Recipe

Time to revive a family classic. You'll love ultra-creamy Cheesy Grits! 


– 2 & ⅓ cups heavy cream – 2 cups unsalted chicken stock – 1 cup white stone-ground grits not instant or quick cook – ½ teaspoon black pepper – ½ teaspoon kosher salt – ¼ teaspoon garlic powder – ¼ teaspoon onion powder – 6 tablespoons salted butter plus more for serving – 4 ounces cream cheese softened and cubed – 6 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese divided


The cream, chicken stock, one cup of grits, pepper, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder should be mixed together in a Dutch oven or a large pot. 

Step 1

The mixture should be covered and let to simmer. Allow the mixture to be stirred until it is completely incorporated.  

Step 2

The liquid should be brought to a boil while the pot is being heated over medium-high heat. Cover the noise and reduce the volume to a low setting.  

Step 3

The mixture should be simmered for twenty to twenty-five minutes, or according to the time range that is indicated on the back of the grits box,  

Step 4

while being stirred often until the majority of the liquid has been absorbed. Add the butter and stir it in until it is completely melted with the other ingredients.  

Step 5

It is recommended that the cream cheese and around four ounces of cheddar cheese be implemented. Until the mixture melted, I stirred it continuously.  

Step 6

The meal should be removed from the fire as soon as possible and served with more butter and cheddar cheese.
