When Will Shake Milton Face 76ers as a Division Rival?

In the summer of 2023, the Philadelphia 76ers let go of Shake Milton, who used to be a homegrown talent. Milton played out the last year of his deal with the Sixers in 2022–2023.

He then became a free agent for the first time to look for a new job.Milton signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves when free agency began in 2023.

At the time, the experienced guard thought he would have a clear role for the Wolves when he came off the bench. They were excited to have his experience in their second unit.

It's possible that the Timberwolves didn't think Milton would be a good fit for them. The Timberwolves traded for the veteran after having him for 38 games with the Detroit Pistons.

They sent a package of players led by Milton. He left Minnesota having scored five points and given out one assist per game. From Milton's point of view of playing time, the Pistons seemed like a good place to stay.

Being 27 years old and having played for a strong team for many years with the Sixers, Milton could have probably found a good place for himself in Detroit.

But Milton and his new team agreed to part ways after he played in four games for the Pistons. Milton and the Pistons agreed to part ways last week.

As soon as possible, he started looking for a way to help a candidate. Before, Milton played teams from other conferences.

Now, he plays teams in the same conference as the 76ers and is a straight rival of them. Milton joins the New York Knicks, who are in the same division as Philadelphia.

If the Sixers want to beat the Knicks this season, they have to do more than just that. The Sixers are in second place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 36-25, one spot behind the Knicks.

These two teams would play each other in the first round of the playoffs if the season finished today. On Sunday, March 10, the Sixers and the Knicks will play each other for the third time this season.

For the first time as a member of the Knicks, Milton should be able to suit up and compete against his previous squad. This is assuming that he does not have any unexpected difficulties.

The Sixers have struggled against the Atlantic Division foe this year. In the first encounter in early January, the Knicks defeated the 76ers 128-92, their biggest loss of the year. In their revenge game two weeks ago, the Sixers lost 110-96.
