Every Upcoming Dune Movie & TV Show After Dune 2

Dune: Part 2 ends a story arc in the overall saga, but more movies based on Frank Herbert's books will be made in the Dune series.

Some new Dune games are confirmed, while others are in development. Denis Villeneuve's Dune films, based on Frank Herbert's classic novel, were a hit, paving the way for a live-action TV and film series.

With only two movies, the franchise is young. But its success nearly guarantees that audiences will see more of it. Villeneuve's Dune is the third film adaptation of Frank Herbert's renowned novel, following David Lynch's 1984 film and John Harrison's 2000 miniseries.

While early adaptations failed to capture the source material's imperialism, mythology, and political and theological intrigue, Villeneuve's Dune movies have done the impossible by offering a virtually faultless book-to-screen adaptation.

Given this, it's hard not to believe the franchise will continue. Thankfully, it will.Dune: Prophecy, a prequel to Denis Villeneuve's first Dune film, will stream on Max in late 2024.

The story takes place roughly 10,000 years before Frank Herbert's 1965 Dune. The series will depict the Bene Gesserit's origin narrative, following their rigorous mental and physical training to uncover their hidden abilities.

While most of the spin-off/prequel series' plot is unknown, it will likely reveal how the sisterhood learns "The Voice" and prana-bindu and how the Bene Gesserit become Reverend Mothers after mastering all their talents.

Legendary Entertainment is producing the project, while Fringe and Altered Carbon star Alison Schapker is showrunner, writer, and executive producer.Dune: Prophecy stars several famous people.

According to sources, Emily Watson (Gosford Park, The Theory of Everything, Chernobyl) will play Valya Harkonnen. Olivia Williams, Jodhi May, and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina will play Tula Harkonnen, Empress Natalya, and Princess Ynez.

Dune: Prophecy also stars Shalom Brune-Franklin, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, Chloe Lea, Travis Fimmel, and Mark Strong.Dune: Messiah, Denis Villeneuve's third Dune film, is likely to materialize.

Since Warner Bros. greenlit Dune: Part Two after the first film's critical and commercial success, the third film will likely be confirmed soon. The second film has already outperformed its predecessor, and its early box office numbers suggest it is overperforming worldwide.

Dune: Messiah takes place 12 years after the first Dune novel. Zendaya's Chani, Timotheé Chalamet's Paul Atreides, and Florence Pugh's Princess Isulan will lead the next film, as Dune: Part Two's ending revealed.

Paul's sister Alia (Anya Taylor-Joy in Dune: Part Two), who telepathically connects with Paul and Jessica, will also be important. Despite Dune: Part 3's uncertainty, director Denis Villeneuve has expressed interest in a Dune trilogy and reportedly said its "screenplay is almost finished.
