Coffee and hazelnuts complement the chocolate in these Hazelnut Mocha Brownies. They're captivating!
INGREDIENTS
– 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter– 2 ounces (58g) unsweetened chocolate, roughly chopped– 1 & 1/2 cups (300g) granulated sugar– 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons (31g) unsweetened natural cocoa powder– 3 large egg– 3 tablespoons (45ml) brewed espresso or strong coffee– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract– 1/2 teaspoon salt– 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour– 1 cup (175g) chopped hazelnuts, toasted
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare a 9-inch square baking pan. Put chocolate and butter in a microwave-safe bowl.
Step 2
Half-power microwave in 30-second intervals until butter and chocolate melt when swirled. Stir smooth. Let cool slightly.
Step 3
Beat sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, espresso, vanilla, and salt with a medium-speed electric mixer until mixed. Mix in the cooled chocolate mixture.
Step 4
Lower mixer speed. Stir in the flour until mixed. Mix in hazelnuts.
Step 5
Place batter in pan and spread evenly. Bake 35–40 minutes until a pick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool in pan before cutting into bars.
