Sweet and Sour Cabbage Easiest Recipe Ever

This Sweet and Sour Cabbage is a simple side or main meal that simmers slowly and tastes excellent.  

Ingredient

– 5 slices bacon 1/2 inch dice – 1 small red cabbage – 3 cloves garlic – 1/3 cup white vinegar – 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar – ⅔ cup water – ½ teaspoon kosher salt – ¼ teaspoon black pepper – 2 Tablespoon unsalted butter – 2 scallions thinly sliced for garnish, optional

Introduction 

Put the bacon in a big stockpot and cook it over medium-low heat until it gets crispy. Place the bacon on a paper towel to drain, then set it away.  

Step 1

Cut up the cabbage while the bacon is cooking. Get rid of any outer leaves and cut the stem into four even pieces by cutting through the middle. 

Step 2

Take out the middle of each piece and cut it into 1/2-inch strips. Get rid of the core pieces. Add the garlic right to the pot with the bacon fat that was left over.  

Step 3

Cook, turning constantly, for about 30 seconds, or until the garlic smells good. Cover the cabbage with fat and toss it around in the pot.  

Step 4

Add the chicken stock and scrape the pan's bottom to get rid of any bits that are stuck there. Then add the pepper flakes, cream, tomatoes, cheese, Italian spice,  

Step 5

Add salt and pepper, and then stir everything together. Just put in the water, sugar, and vinegar. Stir until everything is well mixed. Cover and let it boil for 30 to 45 minutes,  

Step 6

stirring every now and then, or until the meat is as tender as you like it. If there is no more water in the pot after adding a little more water, turn down the heat.  

Step 7

Just before you serve, add the butter and stir the cabbage to coat it. Add the bacon bits and scallions on top, if you want.
