NBC San Diego reported that the car’s owner was not hurt.

KTLA reported that on Thursday night, police told people to be on the lookout for wild animals after multiple reports of seeing mountain lions near downtown. It was around 2 a.m. on March 5 when security guards on watch saw a mountain lion walking along Mission Avenue in Oceanside.

Markus Davis, a security guard, told KTLA, “When we first saw it, it was coming around the corner.” “Our spotlights scared it away.”

There were additional security cameras at City Hall that showed the mountain lion exploring the plaza area and parking garages. Additionally, a janitor at Regal Cinemas witnessed the mountain lion gazing through the glass doors, as reported by KTLA.

However, in a statement to KTLA, Megan Senour, who works for the California Department of Food and Agriculture, stated that the behavior in question “isn’t out of the ordinary.” The Oceanside Police Department and CDFW did not respond to USA TODAY’s request for comment. The only difference is that this is occurring in a more metropolitan area, and people are really capturing it on security cameras.

According to Lieutenant Michael Provence of the Oceanside authorities Department, who spoke with KGTV, the authorities were unable to identify whether or not the mountain lion that was killed in the incident was the same one that had been seen in town before.

According to a statement that was provided to USA TODAY by the San Diego Humane Society, “It is difficult to say if it is the same lion that was being reported in the area this week because this is the time of year when young mountain lions will start to disperse and seek territory of their own.”

According to the San Diego Humane Society, the mountain lion who was involved in the vehicle accident was likewise a young male lion. It was most likely a disperser, which means that it was beginning to become independent and looking for a territory that it could call its own.
