In spite of receiving mixed reviews from critics, the original films were huge box office triumphs when they were released in 2008 and 2018, respectively, and they made millions of dollars at the box office. The Strangers had a cast that included well-known stars from Hollywood, which contributed to the popularity of the show among viewers.
With the first film being released in May of 2024 and the remaining films being released later that same year, the new movie is scheduled to have its debut in the year 2024. It is possible that the decision to make the film with a new director and a new point of view could be considered somewhat of a gamble. There is not a single A-list actor in the new cast of The Strangers: Chapter 1, and if the first film in the new trilogy fails to draw moviegoers, it may have a difficult time convincing people to watch the remaining two films in the trilogy. It is also possible that the new movie will focus on the new characters and will have a different plot from the one that was originally presented.
