Jaylen Brown Punished Warriors for ‘Disrespectful’ Coverage During 52-Point Blowout: After the Golden State Warriors’ defeat to the Boston Celtics by a score of 140–88, Draymond Green confessed that the defensive gameplan of the team was adopted “like 15 minutes” before the game began.

In the end, the game was decided by a score of 52 points, and it is reasonable to say that their strategy, which seemed to consist of simply allowing Jaylen Brown to take shots without any opposition, was a complete and utter failure.

Brown was the player who led the team in scoring, scoring 29 points in just 22 minutes while shooting 11 of 19 from the field and making five of ten from three-point range. He was the most efficient defender in the game. During the first quarter alone, he scored 19 points for the team.

• Following the game, Brown expressed his opinion that the Warriors’ tactic was “disrespectful.”
• This was due to the fact that he struggled to identify a defender in his immediate area throughout the entirety of the game.
• After the game, Brown was quoted as saying, “Thought it was disrespectful, but we took advantage of it,” as reported by Jared Weiss of The Athletic.

After the game, Brown also made a joke on X about how he was not opposed to Golden State’s decision to modify their strategy, which was a troll of Steve Kerr and Golden State.

• While Green was discussing the defensive gameplan, he stated that it was enjoyable to experiment with, but he also conceded that the tactic did not work out.
• In my opinion, we did not truly play a defensive approach to its full potential. With the help of Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Green was quoted as saying, “We implemented our strategy approximately fifteen minutes before we left the locker room.”
• “It’s not going to work. Alright, let’s go on then. I found it to be a fun activity to try. “In all honesty, I was completely on board with it,” said Green, who played only 14 minutes in the victory that was so lopsided.

 

Sunday was the only time that the two teams would compete against each other during the regular season of 2023–24. Therefore, any opportunity for the Warriors to exact payback will have to wait until the following year, unless there is a surprising rematch of their clash in the NBA Finals in 2022.
