1. FRENCH GRAY

  • Patrick recommends Farrow & Ball’s French Grey, the brand’s first most popular colour, for a living room. This colour is more green than grey and creates a relaxing design.
  • Patrick says ‘Just match this very simply with your trim and ceiling colour in Slipper Satin. Patrick says, ‘When you start toying with off-whites, they’re nicer than extremely sharp clean whites.’
  • Patrick suggests accenting with Preference Red to complete the scheme. ‘This may be merely a fabric reference,’ he says, adding that this bright colour could paint furniture. ‘Those plummy reds go extremely well with the green,’ he says.

2. HAGUE BLUE

  • Farrow & Ball’s sombre Hague Blue is well-known. ‘Everybody loves Hague Blue,’ adds Patrick. Patrick recommends using this bright colour on kitchen cabinetry for a classic effect.
  • Patrick suggests decorating with Bancha, a mid-century olive green, in modest amounts to lift this deep shade.
  • “And then just to lighten everything and give a bit of relief, paint all your walls and ceilings Shaded White.”

3. SETTING PLASTER

  • Another popular Farrow & Ball colour is Setting Plaster, which Patrick calls ‘the most flattering of earth pinks.’ Again, Setting Plaster can be used in numerous ways, but Patrick suggests this delicate tint for a bedroom.
  • Patrick suggests Setting Plaster and Mouse’s Back as accent colours: They play well together—pink and brown are so pretty.
  • The colour specialist suggests School House White for trim and ceiling to complete the relaxed bedroom concept.
