Visitors to the zoo can be heard expressing their fear, and one of them even prays for the protection of the staff members. “Oh my gosh, God help her, God help her, God help her,” a lady says to herself.

The workers have to proceed gently, maintain their composure, and wait for the appropriate moment to safely escape the building.

Zoo says incident was due to ‘keeper error’

Zookeepers entered the yard without being aware that the gorilla was still in its habitat, according to Elander, who stated that this was due to “keeper error.”

“Every day, the zookeepers move the gorilla troop into their indoor habitat so that the keepers can place the animals’ lunch in their outdoor habitat,” Elander said in an interview. “The zookeepers work with and train these animals every day and thanks to their knowledge and expertise, they navigated the situation calmly and were able to exit the yard safely.”

Elmo is a silverback that is 34 years old and has been a resident of the zoo for a total of numerous years. Apparently, he became a father in 2021 when Gus was born, as stated in a post on his Instagram account.
