Suns’ Jusuf Nurkić Rips Refs After 31-Rebound Game Without a Single Free Throw: A career-night for Jusuf Nurkić, the centre for the Phoenix Suns, occurred on Sunday, when he grabbed 31 rebounds in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who were visiting from Oklahoma City. And after the game, despite his individual performance, Nurkić expressed his dissatisfaction with the refereeing and questioned how he didn’t get to throw line even once despite his dominance under the rim. However, he did get to throw line.

  • “Man, I’m not sure what to say. My only goal is to perform my duties to the best of my ability.
  • When Nurkić was asked by reporters about the 118–110 loss, he expressed his disappointment, saying, “It’s kind of really messed up when you have 13 offensive rebounds and 16 shots but then zero free throws.”
  • Even though I put in a lot of effort, I have the impression that I am getting fouled just as frequently as everybody else in the league.

He went on to explain, “And I’m not here saying—we lost the game, it is what it is—[but] it’s just, it’s not really common sense,” he said. At least one [free throw] is required. [To] not even possess something? I am aware that it does occur. Unfortunately, I am not the first person to do this, and I am not going to be the last person to do it either.
