  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 2 tablespoons rice flour (optional for extra crispiness)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly chopped cilantro leaves
  • Water, as needed
  • Oil for deep frying

Prepare the Batter:

  • Gramme flour, rice flour (if using), cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, baking soda, and salt should be mixed together in a bowl before being added to the mixture.
  • Gradually adding water will result in a batter that is both smooth and thick. Should the consistency be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, it should be thick enough.


Add Onions and Cilantro:

  • Combine the onion slices that have been thinly sliced with the cilantro leaves that have been freshly cut.
